The Balearics is the name given to the archipelago of four main islands off the Mediterranean coast of Spain (193km/120 miles south of Barcelona). Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza are all popular tourist destinations, offering remarkably varied scenery as well as beach resorts that provide every kind of amenity.
A narrow channel separates Ibiza from Formentera, the smallest inhabited island in the group. The largest town in the Balearics is Palma (Mallorca). Regular ferry services link Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera.
